Prof Ted Vallance
I’m Professor of early modern British political culture at the University of Roehampton. Both my doctoral and postdoctoral work focused on the significance of oaths of allegiance in mid to later-seventeenth-century England. This research was published in my first book Revolutionary England and the National Covenant (Boydell and Brewer, 2005).
My research on the 1723 oaths forms part of a wider project on loyalty and the construction of public opinion in later Stuart and early Hanoverian England. For some further details on this work and my other publications, and for details on how to contact me if you have information relating to the 1723 oaths project, see my staff webpage.
